Setting: England, August 1444 A.D... with an epilogue almost six years later.LADY OF THE MOON is a short novella about a female mercenary (Samarra le Brecque aka Missy) who is hired to kidnap a powerful knight (Sir Rhodes de Leybourne) but finds herself in dire straits when she ends up falling for her captive...Please Note: This story was originally released in June 2017 as part of the "Mists and Moonrise" collection and is loosely based off an ancient Celtic legend about doomed lovers. However, this is the extended version which includes additional content that the shorter version in the collection mentioned above does not have. This story also ties into BEAST which is part of the de Russe Legacy, as Rhodes serves Bastian de Russe, the Earl of Bristol.I was really looking forward to this story about a woman mercenary, even though I knew it would be short. But since KLV has written one of my favorite novellas of all time (Kingdom by the Sea) I know she can do a lot with very few words. I'm sorry to say though that this one was not up to her usual standards. The writing not only felt mediocre but the characters underdeveloped too. Especially Samarra who went from a powerful female in her own right, to downright girly whenever she was anywhere near the hero. Rhodes also seemed inconsistent, especially on his position about marriage, and in the end I just never really connected with either of them. With that being said, I still thought this was a fast read that also gave me a few good chuckles. And if there is one thing I can say about Kathryn le Veque's writing, it's that I've never found a single one of her stories to ever be boring. So although I didn't love this book I still found it to be an entertaining enough tale. Though at $2.99, I do think its a little overpriced and I wasn't a fan of the single love scene either which was oddly timed and kinda creepy in my opinion. I also found nearly two dozen typos and think it could use some editing. I do plan on reading Constantine's book (Samarra's brother) at some point though and just hope his story is more to my liking.Pages & Kindle Locations: The story itself contained 103 pages and 1984 kindle locations.

Lady of the Moon by Kathryn Le Veque was a very unique story of Samarra Brecque who is the sister of a feared pirate who dominates the seas. She in turn is a very beautiful, but dangerous mercenary. A Lord has requested her services to abduct his wayward son who refuses to adhere by a betrothal agreement that has been in place for sometime. The assignment is to just kidnapped him and take him to the assigned cave, where a legend of two lovers was to have taken place in the past. Simple assignment...not so much.Rhodes de Leybourne, has returned home to see his ill father. Rhodes' liege is de Russe and he really wants to return quickly. Unfortunately, his father is going to continue to pester him about marrying for a beneficial alliance through an old betrothal agreement. Unfortunately, for his father, Rhodes is not having any of it. Rhodes is a tremendous knight with exceptional skills and has other adventures to pursue, not an aged old betrothal agreement. These two characters will have an intense battle of wills. A battle that will test who is stronger in all aspects...even a test of their own hearts. It was a wonderful story. It has me now intrigued about her brother, the Pirate.

Are you searching for a book that is both unique, and captivating? Look no more! Kathryn Le Veque's LADY OF THE MOON is a spectacular read that features a Heroine who just so happens to be a skilled Warrior! It isn't everyday that the leading lady in a novel is both strong, and competent wielding a sword, but Samarra le Brecque certainly is. Not only is Samarra lovely, she is tough, and intelligent. When Samarra and our Hero, Sir Rhodes de Leybourne, cross paths...well, the sparks really begin to fly, and this clash of wills is something to behold! Sir Rhodes is a law unto himself. He wants to blaze his own trail, and make his own decisions. Especially when it comes to choosing a wife. He is bound and determined not to marry the woman of his Father's choosing. Sir Rhodes will find his own wife, thank you very much! His Father, however, has other ideas....The evolution of Samarra and Sir Rhodes de Leybourne's romance is beautiful, and captivating. Fans of the medieval genre are sure to love this fast-paced, emotional read. Kathryn Le Veque has created a memorable, breathtaking adventure with LADY OF THE MOON! Don't miss it!

Samarra le Brecque is mercenary known as the Lady of the Moon. Daughter and sister to pirates she lives by the blade, and is very good with it. She has been hired to abduct a Knight and deliver him to his bride.Rhodes de Leybourne is a fierce and formidable Knight. His father has been trying to force him to marry for years. He is just as determined that he will not marry the woman he is betrothed to.Our heroine is brave, strong and for a mercenary, honourable. She will have no trouble with a single Knight. Our hero loves his father, but cannot do as he demands. This is wonderful fun. Full of adventure and realistic historical lifestyle. It is the start of a new series from an author that I automatically buy. Even without reading the blurb. I know I'm going to get a great read. I have not been disappointed yet.I loved it.

If you want to be introduced to the novels of this talented author Kathryn Le Veque, well this novella is the perfect story to choose. It only took me three hours to devour. Lady of the Moon tells the fascinating story of a noble knight and a mercenary woman. This woman named Samarra will accept an offer from his father. However, Rhodes, no longer wishes to marry the woman his father imposed on him. Together, Samarra and Rhodes will embark on a journey of twists & turns, adventure, and romance. I loved the happy ending!
