Oh my. I loved this book!This was my first Liv Rider story, and also my first experience with multiple animal shifters, and it was so much fun.I mostly avoid books that have this mix, as wolves are my faves and for the most part, I read non-shifter mpreg, or wolf shifters.However, I had the opportunity to read an ARC for this dragon shifter/human combo and I'm so glad I didn't pass it up.This book was great.I love the author's subtle sense of humor, and the bickering banter between the dragon Keepers and especially the disagreements between the different shifters of the council had me in stitches!Pleas Liv, I want more of this universe. I loved the staid and bossy Parker, and would love for him to find his HEA.HIGHLY recommended this book and this author!Standalone with HEA & epilogue.Heat level 3 flames (only 2 scenes)Little to no violence, and limited Profanity.I received an ARC directly from the author and have voluntarily read and submitted my review.
Touching fated-mates story filled with action, bad guys and a romantic rescue! Oh i just loved the world-building in this story. I loved the idea of a Dragon being the Keeper of the Peace for an area and all the complications that could arise working with a shifter council. So many different types of shifters and relationships gave amazing depth to this story.I also enjoyed the social implications of having a human as a minority within shifter communities and how under-represented and unprotected that person would be.Tomas and Joel use a lot of communication to build trust and give their relationship a chance. These MC's are both well crafted and you will fall in love with them both.i loved the kidnapping rescue of Joel by Thomas and so enjoyed the dialogue that Thomas had with his dragon. Thomas's dragon is really cool!!I liked Thomas's dragon friends, the other Keeper's of the Peace and i hope that the author has plans for us to get their stories too!!I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review.
ðŸ‘💕🔥ðŸ²A good plot, 💙romance and 🔥heat, with Joel, a human reject from his all-shifter hometown who's escaped second-class treatment and made a new life in Lewiston, a city where shifters live incognito beside the human residents.Just enough adversity and suspense added to their blooming romance to make Joel and dragon shifter Thomas's story exciting. It's well-written and maintains focus on the heroes and their relationship throughout; no sideways meandering that would detract from their story.The belittling and bullying Joel faces for being different, a nonshifter in a world of shifters, is easily comparable to real life societal prejudices against those who are different in sexual preference, religion, race, etc. It was great to see Joel's confidence and self esteem grow once he has Thomas on his side.😊I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.4.5 starsI liked the dynamic of having a human raised by shifters. Joel was the out-cast not because he could shift, but because he couldn't. I also like that this story touched on the issue of finding a mate (and even having friends) when you have power. Thomas is both the Keeper for his district and a dragon, so he was dealing with the political issues of power and the shifter level of power. I thought Joel was such a good match for Thomas, simply by being who he is.I like that even though there is certainly the "fated mates" pull between Thomas and Joel, there is still tension. Thomas feels the mating pull stronger (or at least is more aware of it) than Joel because of being a shifter, but it is clear that Joel is affected by the pull as well. The plot had a nice smooth flow with both internal and external tension/issues for the MCs to overcome.
**3.5 starsTrust is fragile. Once lost, it is a slow process to regain. But when achieved, it is a priceless gift. Communication is essential and that is one facet that Joel and Tomas have in common. Can society alter your perceptions as to what is acceptable? Will being different change how you react to new relationships? MM Romance is not normally my genre, but I enjoy branching out and trying new stories.
I'm afraid this one didn't quite hit my buttons...not great, not horrible....just ok.I didn't feel the connection between Joel and Thomas and even the bad thing wasn't intense enough to make for some tension in the plot.I didn't get why Joel's family wanted him back when they were always pushing him away.Overall it just wasn'y for me
I liked this one very much. This is the first story that has addressed the non shifters in a family of them to this extent. There was a lot in the story, some I had not even thought of. It made a good point. Very pleased with this one. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, and I LOVE the cover. Unique plot and world-building, great characters, and lots of action.
